Statement by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan at a plenary meeting of the 71st session of the General Assembly on the situation in Afghanistan


On November 17, 2016 the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov delivered a statement on the situation in Afghanistan at the meeting of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly.

In his statement, the Permanent Representative praised the common view of all UN member-states towards the importance of peace and stability in Afghanistan and noted that peace and stability and socio-economic rehabilitation of Afghanistan are crucial for the development and prosperity of the entire region.

The Permanent Representative also noted the engagement of Tajikistan in the rehabilitation of the social and economic spheres and infrastructure of Afghanistan through connecting the transport arteries of the two countries, as well as creating an “energy bridge” CASA-1000 and providing essential commodities and training of specialists of this neighboring country.
