Participation of the Prime Minister of Tajikistan in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS in Ashgabat

On May 24, 2024, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Kohir Rasulzoda, took part in the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which took place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The agenda of the meeting included 10 issues related to the interaction of the CIS member states in the economic, transport, communications and energy spheres. Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation in the fields of industry, telecommunications, environmental protection, and the development of transport corridors.

The Prime Minister of Tajikistan noted in his speech the need to intensify work to maximize the potential of cooperation in the Commonwealth format, adapt to new realities - global changes in the economy, politics and social sphere and reach a qualitatively new level of partnership between the participating states.

The Prime Minister of Tajikistan noted that the issues of promoting the “green economy”, especially “green energy”, as well as climate change issues remain relevant areas within the Commonwealth.

As a result of the meeting, a package of documents was signed concerning cooperation in the field of healthcare, the chemical industry, hazardous waste management and combating violations in the field of intellectual property.

Another item on the agenda of the Council of Heads of Government was the issue of declaring Ashgabat “The City of New Sports Opportunities of the Commonwealth.”

The next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS will be held in November 2024 in the city of Sochi (Russian Federation).
