Berlin will host the Special Olympics World Summer Games in 2023

On April 27, 2022, on the sidelines of the presentation ceremony of the Special Olympics World Summer Games, which is to be held on June 17-25, 2023 in Berlin, Ambassador Imomudin Sattorov met with Berlin Senator for Interior, Digitalization, and Sports Iris Spranger.

Apart from discussing various aspects of bilateral cooperation, the parties expressed their readiness to further develop relations between the diplomatic mission and the city of Berlin.

As it is known, 7,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from 170 different countries will compete in 26 sports at the Berlin Olympics. The athletes will be accompanied by approximately 3,000 coaches, 12,000 family members, as well as more than 20,000 volunteers to assist and guide them.

According to the Organizing Committee, the participation of the delegation of athletes of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Special Olympics World Summer Games Berlin – 2023 is also expected.

It should be noted that the first Special Olympics World Summer Games were held in 1968 in Chicago, and nowadays the competition is held every four years in different countries.
