Participation of the Tajik delegation in the 8th World Congress against the Death Penalty

On November 15-18, 2022, the 8th World Congress against the Death Penalty will be held in Berlin.

The delegation of the country at this congress will be represented by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan Muzaffar Ashuriyon and Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for Legal Affairs Zarif Alizoda.

The event is being attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Justice of various countries, representatives of civil society, international organizations, activists, and journalists.

On November 15, 2022, during the opening ceremony, the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan, Muzaffar Ashuriyon, in his speech drew the attention of the audience to the country's achievements in humanizing criminal legislation after the announcement of a moratorium on the death penalty by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon in 2004 and the introduction of mechanisms for the abolition of the death penalty in the country.

The Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Ms. Annalena Berbock, welcomed the heads of delegations, including Tajikistan.
