On 4-7 September 2023, with the initiative of the Embassy of Tajikistan in the Federal Republic of Germany and support of the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan, the delegation of German businessmen and investors headed by Michael Harms, Head of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, visited Dushanbe to participate in Tajikistan-Germany Investment Forum.
The purpose of the event was to strengthen and expand economic, trade and investment cooperation between the countries, as well as to implement the agreements reached between the parties during the previous Tajik-German Business Forum on 22 November 2022 in the city of Hamburg.
On 4 September 2023, the German delegation with the aim to discuss the current level and prospects for further bilateral cooperation had meetings with Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavki Zavkizoda, Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir and Chairman of the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan Saadi Kadirzoda.
On September 5 of this year, with wide participation of the delegations of the parties the Forum of Tajik-German businessmen was held in Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzoda commenced the event with the opening speech. Then, Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir, Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma, Minister of Agriculture Kurban Hakimzoda, Chairman of the Committee on State Investment and State Property Management Saadi Kadirzoda, Chairman of the Committee on Tourism Development Kamoliddin Muminzod and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Germany Imomuddin Sattorov delivered speeches on the issues related to economic opportunities, investment, agriculture, tourism, logistics, as well as on expanding co-operation in trade and economy, and attracting foreign investors. The main focus was made on the effective use of mutual experience, creating conditions for entrepreneurship and commercial development, promoting Tajikistan's economic opportunities, as well as attracting investment and finding partners in energy, tourism, logistics, agriculture and other priority sectors of economy.
Michael Harms, Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, and Hovsep Voskanian, Head of the Representative Office of the German Economy in Central Asia, expressed readiness to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with Tajikistan.
After the official part of the Forum, participants held bilateral negotiations in B2B format, where the main issues, including the state of trade and economic potential, prospects of development and implementation of direct cooperation were discussed.
Following the results of the meeting between the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Eastern Committee of German Economy a relevant document on cooperation was signed.
On September 6 of this year, the Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Michael Harms was received by the Leader of Nation H.E. Emomali Rahmon.
During the visit, the German delegation got acquainted with the activities of industrial and manufacturing enterprises of Dushanbe city and districts of republican subordination, as well as visited tourist and historical sites.
