On January 26, 2024 the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Germany Imomudin Sattorov met with the Secretary General of the Goethe Institute Johannes Ebert.
They discussed the strengthening of the study of German language in Tajikistan, the continuation of the traditional cooperation with educational institutions of the country and the professional training of teachers in this field in order to further develop the teaching of the German language.
The parties also agreed on the possibility of opening Goethe-Institut language and examination centres in one of the administrative centres of the republic's regions and, as well as on strengthening the activities of German language learning centres in the cities and districts of Tajikistan.
For information: The Goethe Institute was founded in 1951 and named in honour of the eminent German poet Johann Wolfgang Goethe (1749-1832). The Institute is headquartered in Munich and has 158 branches in 98 countries. According to available information, 15.5 million people worldwide are learning German, and in 2022 the number of people taking the B1 level exam has reached 342,000.
The representative office of the Goethe Institute in Tashkent also covers Tajikistan. It should be noted that since 2010, the Dushanbe Language Centre (SLZ) has been an official partner of the Goethe Institute in Tashkent.
