"Dushanbe water process ". Second High-Level Conference on the International Decade for action "Water for Sustainable Development", 2018-2028,

Effective use of drinking water resources, which are the most vulnerable sources in the face of climate change, is important for achieving sustainable development goals. Over the past fifteen years, Tajikistan, together with UN member States and UN agencies, has proposed a number of global initiatives, including the "International year of clean water", the International decade of action "Water for life", 2005-2015, and the International decade of action "Water for sustainable development, 2018-2028". They serve as a timely and important platform for cooperation in the comprehensive use of water resources and accelerating access to drinking water and sanitation, as well as for achieving water-related goals and objectives.

The government of Tajikistan intends through the "Dushanbe process on water issues" to provide a field for political dialogue, partnership, and action by organizing high-level conferences with the support of the UN and other partners during the Decade of action on water resources. To this end, in cooperation with the United Nations and other partners, the 2nd high-level Conference on the International decade for action "Water for sustainable development, 2018-2028" will be held in Dushanbe on June 18-20, 2020.

It is expected that during the Conference, representatives of political circles on water resources, Finance, energy, industry, social health protection, education, urban planning, as well as experts on environmental protection, expressing political will and a sense of commitment to existing challenges, will address new ideas, progressive thinking and creative and innovative ideas for solving water problems and access to it.

The conference will be co-chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan and the head of the United Nations Development Organization (DESA).
