Today, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan Sohibnazar Gayratsho met with the representatives of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in Potsdam, Germany.
During the meeting, along with the international initiatives of Tajikistan in the field of water and its resources an exchange of views took place on the level of implementation of the initiative of "Green Central Asia" and its prospects in the post-coronavirus period. It should be noted that in January 2020, with the participation of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Central Asia and Germany, the German initiative of “Green Central Asia” was presented.
Today, German experts are working closely with their Tajik counterparts to prevent the effects of global warming, study glaciers as well as their impact on various spheres of life.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan emphasized the importance of the Center for Glacier Science under the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan for the implementation of this initiative and requested technical assistance as well as the exchange of experience to strengthen its capacity. Dr. Huttermann expressed readiness to establish close cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences and other universities of Tajikistan in the field of research and development of various development models, taking into account global warming. It was decided that in the near future business trips of Tajik and German specialists will be organized.
