29th anniversary is marked on February 28, 2021 since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Germany.
On February 28, 1992 Germany recognized the independence of Tajikistan and in 1993 opened its diplomatic mission in Dushanbe making it the first EU member state with an embassy in the country. The first Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the EU was opened in Bonn, Germany.
During this period given the created important mechanisms of cooperation and organized high-level visits, relations between the two countries have been evolved and covered all aspects. In the early years of independence of our country Germany actively participated in peacekeeping and democratization process and contributed to the reconstruction of the post-war economy.
Tajik-German relations are regulated by the legal agreements. More than 40 agreements between the two countries are signed. Mechanisms of cooperation includes annual political consultations, interparliamentary groups collaborations and etc.
Cooperation between Tajikistan and Germany in the framework of international organizations and regional programs, including UN, OSCE, EU Central Asian initiatives, Green Central Asia, PATRIP and other formats is aimed to further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.
