On April 15, 2015 in Paris, at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), a meeting of the Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Tajikistan to UNESCO, Ambassador Rustamjon Soliev has been held with the Director General of UNESCO Madame Irina Bokova.
During the talk the sides discussed the issues of current state and prospects of development of Tajikistan’s cooperation with UNESCO in the fields of science, education and culture, as well as the implementation of a number of projects of bilateral interaction.
Permanent Delegate of Tajikistan to UNESCO R. Soliev informed the Director General of the Organization I. Bokova on the preparation of the International High-Level Conference on the results of the implementation of the International Decade for Action "Water for Life", 2005-2015, which is scheduled in Dushanbe on 9-11 June 2015. In this respect, Madame Irina Bokova highly commended the initiatives of Tajikistan in addressing water issues at regional and global levels, as well as confirmed the participation of UNESCO high-level delegation in the Conference.
Moreover, Ambassador Rustamjon Soliev demonstrated colorful photos and briefed Director General Irina Bokova on cultural and recreation state complex “Kokhi Navruz” (Palace of Navruz) in Dushanbe. Cultural and architectural value and beauty of this object was particularly noted.
In the margins of the meeting, detailed information on nominations “Art of chakan embroidery in Tajikistan”, “Culture of Tajik Pilaf” and “Falak” submitted for consideration of the Organization to include in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was presented to UNESCO Director General.
Ambassador of Tajikistan R.Soliev also discussed with high representative of UNESCO the issues of support for nominations of “100th anniversary of Ghaffor Valamatzoda” and “1150th anniversary of Zakariya Razi” for introduction into the UNESCO List of anniversaries for 2016-2017.
