The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Kingdom of Belgium simultaneously performs the functions of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg with residence in Brussels, as well as the Representation of the Republic of Tajikistan in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

The main task of the diplomatic mission is the development of bilateral relations of the Republic of Tajikistan with the mentioned countries and cooperation with the European Union, the Council of Europe and their structures, as well as NATO, the Energy Charter, the World Customs Organization and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

Protection of the rights and interests of citizens and legal entities of our country, and cooperation with the Tajik diaspora is one of the key tasks of the Embassy.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Tajikistan, like other republics, became independent and was recognized as an independent state by the international community, including Belgium. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on April 29, 1992, which resulted in the opening of an Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Tajikistan with a residence in Astana, the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan was opened in Brussels in 2001. The diplomatic mission is located in a 5-storey historic building built in 1917.

On February 11, 2009, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon took part in the opening ceremony of the Embassy of Tajikistan in Brussels.
In the building of the Embassy of Tajikistan, the Head of State Emomali Rahmon met for the first time with the Tajik diaspora and compatriots living in Belgium.
