Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands were established on July 27, 1992.

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Tajikistan is located with a residence in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
The Netherlands is considered one of the most visible and reliable partners of Tajikistan in Europe.
Bilateral relations between the two countries are at the phase of development. The current level of relations with the Netherlands, which is one of the main trading partners of Tajikistan in the European Union, is considered favourable.
An important tool for bilateral relations between the two countries is the Interdepartmental Political Consultations of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, which were first held in 2019 in The Hague.
Tajikistan is supported by the Netherlands in everyday issues of combating global threats and solving various social and economic problems.
Cooperation between our countries has good prospects, and Tajikistan is willing to make full use of the available opportunities in this direction.
Cooperation within the framework of international organizations
Tajikistan and the Netherlands are members of a number of international organizations, positive cooperation has been established between the countries within the framework of the UN, OSCE, European Union, WTO, European Economic Area, and UNESCO. In particular, the initiatives of Tajikistan in the water sector were supported by the Netherlands, and the high-level event “Water and Sanitation for All” was held as a joint initiative of the governments of the Netherlands and Tajikistan as part of the International Decade of Activities “Water for Life”.
On March 22-24, 2023, Tajikistan and the Netherlands will jointly host the UN Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Goals of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development" for 2018-2028 in New York.
Cultural cooperation
Cooperation between Tajikistan and the Netherlands in the field of science and education is mainly carried out under the Erasmus + program and other programs of the European Union. In addition, the Government of the Netherlands annually allocates educational scholarships to young diplomats at one of the best political and diplomatic centres - the Clingendael Diplomatic Academy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Two organizations of the Tajik diaspora Somoniyon and the Rudaki society are registered in the Netherlands.
