Visit of the working group of the Republic of Tajikistan to Dubai

From March 1 to March 6, 2021, a working group of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the Director of the Export Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Shavkat Bobozoda visited Dubai in order to develop trade relations and study the experience of the United Arab Emirates in the field of packaging agricultural products, in particular dried fruits.

During the visit, the Director of the Export Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan met with the Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry Majid al-Ghureir. Investment and export opportunities of Tajikistan were presented. Also during the meeting, the sides discussed issues of increasing trade between the parties, the construction of joint ventures and the export and import of goods.

In turn, the Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that a working group was created to study the production capabilities and exports of Central Asian countries, including Tajikistan, and in the prospect of imports from these countries to Dubai. It is likely that this group will start studying the above issues from Tajikistan.

Also, the Tajik delegation visited the Jabal Ali Free Zone (DP World), where are based more than 8000 companies and has 4 large ports. Export Agency Director met with the leadership of the Free Trade Zone Jabal Ali (DP World). The delegation closely acquainted with the developed 50-year experience of this free trade zone. Investment and export opportunities of Tajikistan were presented as well.

On March 3, 2021, the Export Director met with the Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdullah Al Owais. During this meeting, the parties exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the field of trade, economy, industry and tourism. Within the framework of the meeting, a business forum was held, in which the Tajik delegation and a circle of Sharjah entrepreneurs discussed issues of establishing cooperation in the field of packaging dried fruits and ways of exporting them to the UAE. Also, the Tajik delegation visited the permanent exhibition of this Chamber and got acquainted with the goods produced in Sharjah.

In addition, the Tajik working group visited major Dubai packaging companies such as Corys Packing, Hasani Group and DMSS and held talks with the heads of these companies on technology, experience, type of goods, raw goods, etc.

During the meetings, the delegation of the Export Agency was accompanied by the Consulate General of the Republic of Tajikistan in Dubai.
