Discussion of Water and Glacier Preservation during a Meeting with Media Representatives

On 11 May 2026,б Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Yusuf Sharifzoda, held a meeting with representatives of the digital media outlets “The Gulf Observer” and “The Europe Today”.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Pakistan, as well as the development of political, economic, cultural cooperation, and historical heritage. Special attention was paid to climate change and challenges related to water resources in the region.

During the discussion, the Ambassador of Tajikistan emphasized the role of the Republic of Tajikistan’s international initiatives in advancing the global water agenda and provided information on the Fourth High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018–2028, which will be held in Dushanbe from May 25 to 28, 2026.

The importance of expanding information cooperation and the role of the media in covering pressing environmental and water-related issues was also highlighted.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the guests also visited the Embassy’s library, where they were provided with detailed information about Tajik literature, the rich historical and cultural heritage, national traditions and customs, as well as the achievements of Tajikistan during the period of independence.

The parties expressed confidence that the development of media cooperation and information exchange would contribute to further strengthening bilateral relations.
