Meeting at the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan

On May 12, 2026, in Islamabad, a meeting was held between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Yusuf Sharifzoda, and the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, within the framework of a meeting with the ambassadors of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the expansion of cooperation in the fields of education and science, including the development of inter-university relations, the exchange of professors and students, as well as ways to strengthen academic cooperation among higher education institutions of the participating countries.

The Ambassador emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan attaches special importance to the development of scientific and educational cooperation with the countries of the region and Pakistan, considering the expansion of direct ties between universities and research centers as an important factor in strengthening friendly relations and regional integration.

For his part, Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar expressed the readiness of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan to expand cooperation with higher education institutions of the countries of the region and stressed the importance of exchanging experience and implementing joint scientific programs.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue dialogue and strengthen cooperation in the fields of education and science.
