The 8th Session of the Tajikistan–Pakistan Joint Commission held in Dushanbe

The 8th Session of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was held in Dushanbe from 2 to 3 June 2026.

The meeting was attended by official delegations of both countries and co-chaired by Mr. Daler Juma, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Mr. Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Federal Minister for Energy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the session, the parties discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, agriculture, energy, education, banking, science and technology, tourism, youth policy, sports, transport, and communications.

According to the information presented, the volume of foreign trade turnover between Tajikistan and Pakistan reached USD 43 million in 2025, while trade turnover in the first quarter of 2026 amounted to USD 8.9 million.

The participants emphasized the importance of increasing bilateral trade, exploring new opportunities for economic cooperation, diversifying export and import goods, and strengthening direct ties between the business and investment communities of the two countries.

The parties also highlighted the strategic importance of the CASA-1000 regional electricity transmission project for the further development of energy cooperation between the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the outcomes achieved and reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the agreed decisions and further expanding mutually beneficial partnership.

Following the session, the Protocol of the 8th Meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was signed by the co-chairs of the Commission.
