At the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Ukraine, a virtual meeting between the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan Jamshed Jumakhonzoda, and the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine Gennady Chizhikov, took place on October 31, 2023.
Logistics and increasing trade between Tajikistan and Ukraine were among the main issues of the meeting. Energy, pharmaceuticals and agriculture are interesting and promising areas of cooperation between both countries.
Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan Jamshed Dzhumakhonzoda spoke about the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations, the search for ways to strengthen Tajik-Ukrainian cooperation, as well as opportunities to strengthen the flow of goods between the two countries. In order to strengthen and expand trade and economic cooperation, J. Dzhumakhonzoda considered it necessary to hold an online meeting of Tajik-Ukrainian entrepreneurs, prepare business trips to each other’s countries and organize joint ventures.
President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gennady Chizhikov emphasized that “distance should not be an obstacle to effective trade. Ukraine is looking for a new “Silk Road” to Central Asia and Tajikistan may be involved in its formation”. He also expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan J. Dzhumakhonzoda for inviting member companies of the Ukrainian CCI to participate free of charge in exhibitions and international events at the sites of Tajikistan, as well as for their willingness to work to expand bilateral trade opportunities.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan to Ukraine Davlatali Nazrizoda also took part in the meeting and spoke.
