Celebrating Nowruz and laying flowers at the bust of Zoroaster in Kyiv

On March 20, 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Ukraine, Davlatali Nazrizoda visited the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management in Kyiv.

At the meeting of the Ambassador with the Rector of the Academy Kirill Muravyov, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and Ukraine in the spheres of science and education and ways to expand it. Special attention was paid to inter-university cooperation.

Then the Ambassador together with the leadership, teachers and students of the Academy laid a wreath at the bust of prophet Zoroaster, which is located in the Academy’s courtyard.

After the ceremony of laying flowers, the Ambassador of Tajikistan, speaking in the Academy’s hall to the teachers and students of Academy, told about the history of Nowruz, its rituals, about the celebration of Nowruz in Tajikistan as a holiday of spring and labor, spoke about the prophet Zoroaster and the Zoroastrian religion, about the influence of this religion on the culture of the Tajik people. The Ambassador also informed about bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Ukraine in various spheres, particularly in science, education and culture.

Ukrainian orientalist Oleksandr Shokalo devoted his speech to Nowruz and its connections with Zoroastrianism, spoke about the similarities of ancient cultural traditions of Ukrainian and Tajik peoples.
