«Tajik Cultural evening» in Kyiv

On February 5, 2025, in Kiev, on the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Ukraine, together with the People's Diplomacy Fund and the Children's Art School No. 2 of Kiev, a cultural evening was held under the name "Tajikistan: Feel the Friendship". This cultural meeting was dedicated to the ancient Tajik agricultural festival of Sada.

The cultural event was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states in Ukraine, as well as figures from science and culture, business circles and the Tajik diaspora.

The first part of the event began with an exhibition of paintings by Tajik and Ukrainian artists, photographs of landscapes of Tajikistan, Tajik folk arts and crafts and musical instruments. An important part of the exhibition was a painting by Honored Artist of Ukraine Grigory Dovzhenko entitled "Tajikistan in the Works of Grigory Dovzhenko: 1941-1944".

In the main part of the cultural program, Ambassador of Tajikistan Davlatali Nazrezoda, referring to the words of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on the protection and development of culture and national values, spoke about the great importance of culture in the development of international cooperation. The head of the diplomatic mission noted that today Tajikistan and Ukraine are united by friendship, which is manifested in partnership and cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of culture.

Representatives of Ukraine also spoke at the event: Oleksandr Shokalo, orientalist, writer, founder and editor-in-chief of the magazine "Ukrainian World"; Tatyana Serebrennikova, head of the department of the Lesya Ukrainka Public Library, specialist in traditional embroidery; Fedor Lavrinenko, director of the "People's Diplomacy" Foundation; Klavdiya Dovzhenko, art critic, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

Ukrainian orientalist Alexander Shokalo spoke about the kinship of the cultural traditions of the Tajik and Ukrainian peoples, in particular, about the similarity of the agricultural worldview, hydronyms, toponyms, linguistic relics, folk customs, solar festive rituals and the symbolism of folk ornaments.

In the artistic part of the festival, students of the Oriental Studies Department of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv recited poems by classics of Tajik poetry; a demonstration of Tajik and Ukrainian national costumes, videos about the festival "Fruits and tourist opportunities of Tajikistan" took place; In the concert program, artists and art groups performed Ukrainian and Tajik songs, dances in national costumes.

A real holiday of mutual knowledge of Tajik and Ukrainian cultures and friendly communication took place.
