Tajik Cultural Evening in Kyiv

On February 27, 2025, a cultural event on the theme "National Identity and Feelings of Patriotism" was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Ukraine with the participation of compatriots living in Kiev and the Kyiv region, as well as representatives of the local intelligentsia from the cities of Kyiv, Odessa and Kharkov.

The event also included a presentation of the bestseller of modern Tajik literature by master Sadriddin Aini "Selected Works", which was recently published in Ukrainian in the city of Kharkov. The book was published on the initiative and with the financial support of the Denis Paramonov Foundation.

A recently published book "Tajiks and the Border Delimitation of 1924" (author - candidate of historical sciences, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Ukraine) was also presented. It is noteworthy that in this book the author describes the historical events during which our proud and noble people in those difficult years fought for the formation of Tajikistan as a separate republic in Central Asia.

In his opening speech, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Ukraine Davlatali Nazrizoda expressed his opinion on the need to strengthen national identity, patriotism, pride in one's language and culture. He also recalled the important points of the message of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to the country's parliament.

The head of the diplomatic mission also said that on March 2, 2025, elections of deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan will be held in the Republic of Tajikistan, and on this occasion, a voting ceremony will also be held in the Embassy building.

Citizens of Tajikistan living in Ukraine were invited to participate in this political campaign.

The Ambassador also noted that in June 2025, the 700th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Tajik and Persian classical poet Hafiz Shirazi will be celebrated at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. Currently, Tajikistan is also preparing for cultural celebrations dedicated to the 2550th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights of Cyrus the Great.

Those present expressed their joy at the publication and presentation of the bestseller of modern Tajik literature by Sadriddin Aini, “Selected Works,” in Ukrainian and assessed this initiative as a positive development in cultural relations between Tajikistan and Ukraine.

At the meeting, the famous Ukrainian orientalist Alexander Shokalo, professor of the Institute of Journalism of the Kyiv Capital University named after Borys Grinchenko, professor Mikola Vaskiv, senior researcher of the Taras Shevchenko Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Olga Teterina, head of the Department of Slavic Philology of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Ukraine Elena Dzyuba, director of the "Museum of One Street" Dmitry Shlensky and representative of the "Denis Paramonov Foundation" Oleg Orlov expressed their opinions on the friendship of the peoples of Tajikistan and Ukraine, our cultural and literary cooperation.

It is worth noting that based on the decision of the Board of the Sadriddin Aini Literary Foundation, during the event, a number of outstanding figures of Ukraine, especially those who worked hard to popularize Tajik literature, science and culture, translated and published works of Tajik poets and writers in Ukrainian and continue this good deed today, were awarded the Aini Foundation badge.

The participants of the meeting were also presented with Sadriddin Aini's book "Selected Works" in Ukrainian.

During the event, the Tajik corner was decorated with national ethnographic paintings, an exhibition of books on the history of the Tajik people and promotional tourism materials, and the participants were offered delicious national dishes.
