Celebration of Navruz in Kyiv

On April 23, 2025, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Ukraine, together with the National University of Natural Resources and Nature Management of Ukraine and the People's Diplomacy Foundation, held a ceremonial event in Kiev called "Navruz - a symbol of peace, friendship and mutual respect".

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, the Kyiv City Administration, ambassadors and diplomats of foreign countries, heads of international and regional organizations accredited in Kyiv, rectors and teachers of universities and higher educational institutions, scientists and cultural figures, businessmen and representatives of public organizations of compatriots living in Ukraine - more than 600 people in total - took part in the celebration of Navruz.

Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Ukraine Davlatali Nazrizoda congratulated those present on the holiday and noted that Navruz is one of the most ancient holidays of our ancestors, which, thanks to the State Independence and the direct efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, has become a comprehensive international holiday aimed at paying tribute to the culture of our ancestors, national values, and strengthening the ideas of patriotism and self-awareness. He noted that Navruz, having become an international holiday, unites peoples and regions and plays a worthy role in the development of cultural ties. Rector of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine Vadim Tkachuk congratulated those present and, in particular, noted that holding this wonderful holiday within the walls of the university contributes to the processes of developing international ties, strengthening friendly relations and the exchange of cultures between peoples. The President of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine Yaroslav Gadzalo recalled his great love and respect for the ancient Tajik people and emphasized the need to expand cooperation between Tajikistan and Ukraine in the agricultural sector.

The Chairman of the Ukrainian People's Diplomacy Foundation Fedor Lavrinenko noted the significant place of people's diplomacy in the sphere of international relations and called the holiday of Navruz one of the important factors in bringing different peoples and nationalities closer together.

The famous Ukrainian orientalist Alexander Shokalo, giving vivid examples and comparing the beautiful traditions of the Tajik Navruz and the Ukrainian Velikden, expressed his thoughts on the commonality of the ancient culture of the peoples of Tajikistan and Ukraine.

During the cultural program, videos about the celebration of Navruz and the tourist opportunities of Tajikistan were shown.

Then, students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv read poems by classics of Tajik poetry praising Navruz.

Everyone was delighted by the wonderful demonstration of Tajik and Ukrainian national costumes, as well as a joint concert program with the performance of national songs, melodies and dances of the two countries in Tajik and Ukrainian national costumes.

As part of the celebration of Navruz, a joint exhibition was held, which presented photographs of Tajik women in national costumes, including chakan and atlas.

Among the spectators were People's Artist of Ukraine Femiy Mustafayev, Honored Artist of Ukraine Elena Dobroziy, director of the artistic group "Kalinochka" Maria Yastrebova, students from universities and music schools of Kyiv.

The collection also included paintings depicting Ukrainian women's national costumes from the archive of the famous designer Katerina Potlova under the name "ETHNO FASHION" - "Peace to your family, Ukraine!", works by the Ukrainian artist Lyudmila Kobycheva "Philosophy of Spring", books on the history of the Tajik people, advertising materials for tourism.

At the end of the meeting, the participants continued to communicate at festive tables with dishes of national Tajik and Ukrainian cuisine.

In honor of the Navruz holiday, a football match was held in Kyiv on the university sports ground between the united team of the Embassy of Tajikistan and compatriots living in the host country, and the team of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine for the "Cup of the Ambassador of Tajikistan and the Rector of the University".
