On January 4, 2021, the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Afghanistan Sa’di Sharifi met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Hanif Atmar to discuss the strengthening of cooperation and the prospects of Tajik-Afghan relations.
The Tajik Ambassador said that Tajikistan attaches great importance to Afghanistan because it has deep ethnic and racial roots with Afghanistan. A clear example of this is the continuous efforts of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to draw the attention of the international community to solve the problems of Afghanistan.
One of the topics of the meeting was the consideration of the trilateral virtual meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and the United States of America on 7 January.
It was noted that Tajikistan while hosting the Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECA-5 in 2012), presented projects that highlight important aspects of cooperation between the two friendly and neighboring countries in the areas of infrastructure, communications, water and energy reserves, and specialist training.
