Relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Kuwait

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Kuwait were established on March 31, 1995.

On June 23, 2013, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Kuwait was officially opened.

His Excellency Mr. Zubaidzoda Zubaidullo Najot serves as the Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the State of Kuwait, a position he has held since October 2, 2013. His Excellency Mr. Nassar Abdulrahman Almutairi is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to the Republic of Tajikistan, with his residence in Islamabad, having assumed this role on April 11, 2017.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan paid four official and state visits to the State of Kuwait (April 17-19, 1995; June 23-25, 2013; May 15-17, 2016; and November 3-5, 2024).

On October 17, 2012, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan visited Kuwait to take part in the Summit of Heads of Member States of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue.

There have been sessions of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Tajikistan and Kuwait on economic, trade, scientific, and technological cooperation on May 23–24, 2013, in Dushanbe; December 8–19, 2017, in Al-Kuwait; September 19–22, 2022, in Dushanbe; and February 4–6, 2025.

On November 22, 2014, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirodjidin Muhriddin, paid an official visit to the State of Kuwait.

The Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Kuwait was established in 2014.

On December 19-22, 2015, a parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan visited the State of Kuwait.

Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries were held on April 27, 2015, in Al-Kuwait; on April 4–5, 2016, in Dushanbe; and on April 2, 2018, in Al-Kuwait.

The legal framework of the cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Kuwait is formed by 27 documents.

On November 11-13, 2019, the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Qohir Rasulzoda, to the State of Kuwait was held. In the framework of the visit were held the Investment Forum entitled “Investment Climate in the Republic of Tajikistan” and the presentation of the country's tourism potential and opportunities.

On July 16, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait Sheikh in the framework of the International Conference "Central and South Asia: Regional Solidarity—Challenges and Opportunities" and on April 15, 2024, in the framework of the Second Ministerial Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between Central Asian states and Gulf Cooperation Council countries in Tashkent.

On October 13–19, 2019, the Days of Culture of the State of Kuwait were held in the Republic of Tajikistan and on November 11-14, 2024, the Days of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan were held in the State of Kuwait.

On December 7, 2021, and August 22, 2024, in Dushanbe, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).

On June 30, 2023, in Dushanbe, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmed Fahd Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

On September 25, 2024, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met in New York with the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.

On November 3, 2024, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, arrived in the State of Kuwait for a three-day official visit during which he had meetings with the Emir, Crown Prince, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Ministers of Interior and Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, and Director General of the KFAED.

On November 4, 2024, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, attended and had a speech at the High-Level Conference “Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms—The Kuwaiti Phase of the Dushanbe Process” in Kuwait.

From 12 to 16 May 2025, the delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan visited the State of Kuwait under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, U. Usmonzoda, and the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan, F. Kahhorzoda.
