Meeting of the Minister with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs

On September 23, 2022, on the sidelines of the “High Level Week” of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, met with the newly appointed UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), Mr. Li Junhua.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on topical issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the UN DESA, including joint actions to promote the three pillars of sustainable development - social, economic and environmental.

The parties also expressed their views on Tajikistan's global initiatives in promoting the World Water Agenda, Declaring 2025 as the Year of Glacier Protection, and the upcoming Dushanbe Counter-Terrorism Conference.

The Issues of regional security, including the need to provide humanitarian aid to the neighboring country - Afghanistan, were also at the center of discussion between the parties.
