Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Estonia were established on February 23, 2006.

In 2012 during an official visit to Tajikistan, the Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet met with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
Political consultations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Estonia were held once in 2019.
The legal framework for cooperation between the two states is formed by intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements. The Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Estonia signed bilateral documents in the areas of politics, education and tourism.
The trade turnover of the Republic of Tajikistan with Estonia for the 2024 was - 388,9 million US dollars. There were no exports from the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Estonia in 2024.
