Bilateral relations of Tajikistan with Latvia

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Latvia were established on 11 May 1994.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Tajikistan is Mihails Popkovs with residence in Tashkent.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Latvia is Mahmadsharif Haqdod with residence in Minsk.

One of the important events in the history of Tajik-Latvian relations was the state visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon to the Republic of Latvia in 2009.

In 2009 a reciprocal visit of the President of Latvia H.E. Mr. Valdis Zatlers to the Republic of Tajikistan was held.

In 2014 the President of the Republic of Latvia H.E. Mr. Andris Berjins paid an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan.

On February 2, 2009 the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan adopted a decree to rename the «Peak of Soviet Latvia” to the "Peak of Latvia".

Each year, through Training Programs on European Law and Economics for the countries of the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia a certain number of citizens of Tajikistan participate at the Training Course in Riga Graduate School of Law.
