Relations of Tajikistan with Vietnam

Tajik- Vietnamese diplomatic relations were established on July 1992.
An important event in the history of the Tajik- Vietnamese relations was the official visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at January, 1999 and his meetings and talks with President Tran Duc Luong on the further development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation.
       Both countries have established inter-parliamentary cooperation. In 2010 the Assembly of Representatives of the Republic of Tajikistan and the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam established Inter-parliamentary friendship Group for cooperation.
Two countries signed legal documents for the protection& promotion of investments, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, etc.
Trade turnover in 2012reached 1million 334.9 thousand US dollars. In the  nine months of 2013 it reached  27 thousand US dollars.
      It should be noted that the signing of the agreement on trade and economic cooperation contributed to the revitalization of bilateral trade.
A number of Tajik-Vietnamese enterprises operate in Tajikistan.
Main export items: cotton fiber and silk ;
   Major imports items: consumer goods .
