Relations of Tajikistan with Australia

         Diplomatic relations between Republic of Tajikistan and Australia were established on 26 December 1991. The Australian Embassy in Tajikistan has its residence in Moscow, Russia.  
It should be noted that both states have an active cooperation in the framework of the United Nations Organization as well as in other international organizations.
In May of 2012 intermministerial consultations were held with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Zohidov.


       Trade turnover between the two countries in 2012 amounted to 2 million 216 thousand U.S. dollars.  Australian company «Santos «started its operations in Tajikistan in 2008 and engaged in exploration work for oil and gas in Sughd region. Australia provides humanitarian cooperation assistance to Tajikistan through international non-governmental organizations.

Mutual visits

      A working visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Zarifi to Australia was held on 10 July 2013. The visit included meetings with the Minister of Trade and Acting Australian Foreign Minister Mr. Richard Marles, the management of the State Organization for the Development of trade relations AUSTRADE.
