The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, who is in Dushanbe in order to take part in the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Ministerial meeting.
The current state and prospects of bilateral Tajikistan-Azerbaijani relations were discussed with a focus on cooperation in the political, transportation, communication, industry, agriculture, and education spheres.
During the meeting the two sides noted the significant increase of trade turnover between the two nations and the fruitful activities of Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. The implementation of a number of joint projects in the field of agriculture, and the creation of industrial cooperatives was mentioned as vitally important.
The expansion of Tajik-Azeri cooperation in the field of light industry, in particular production of aluminum, exploration and processing of hydrocarbon Tajikistan resources was noted as essential.
Cooperation in the field of transport, communications, as well as cargo transportation was also touched upon.
While expressing satisfaction over the development of cooperation in cultural and humanitarian spheres, including the training of Tajik professionals and the allocation of scholarships in universities of Azerbaijan, it was proposed to hold the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Tajikistan.
In connection with the increasing threats and challenges facing the world, the officials emphasized the importance of security collaboration.
