Participation of Tajikistan in Voice of the Global South Summit

On 12 January 2023 the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Bahodur Sheralizoda within the framework of the Voice of the Global South Summit took part in the Ministerial session of Environmental Protection, held virtually under the chairmanship of India.  

During his speech Mr. Bahodur Sheralizoda reminded on initiative of the Leader of Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon, regarding the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution on 14 December 2022, by which 2025 has been declared as the International Year of Glacier Preservation and 21 March as World Glacier Day.

The Chairman of the Committee emphasized that Tajikistan ranks 6th in the world in terms of hydropower capacity, which can serve as a source of “green energy” for the entire region and make a valuable contribution to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
