On September 26, 2014 in the sidelines of the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov held a meeting with the UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova which took place in New York City.
Foreign Minister expressed his satisfaction with the 37th UNESCO General Conference where the 3000th anniversary of the city of Khisor, the 700th anniversary of the birth of mystic and poet Mir Said Ali Hamadoni, the 600th anniversary of the birth of poet, philosopher and humanist Abdurahmon Jomi and the 100th anniversary of the birth of composer Ziedullo Shahidi had been included in the list of important dates of UNESCO.
Sirodjidin Aslov also thanked Irina Bokova and in her person a whole team of UNESCO for the cooperation and supporting of Tajikistan in conducting of the International Year of Water Cooperation in 2013.
The parties agreed to continue and deepen cooperation between Tajikistan and UNESCO in the fields of education, science and culture. In this regard, parties emphasized the necessity for closer bilateral cooperation with the aim to strengthen the capacity of the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan for UNESCO.
