Sixth Round of the Human Rights Dialogue between Tajikistan and Switzerland

On 18 September 2015 in Bern the Sixth Round of the Human Rights Dialogue between Tajikistan and Switzerland took place. The Tajik delegation was represented by Jamshed Khamidov - Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Swiss Confederation, Muzaffar Ashuriyon - the Head of the Department of the guarantee of constitutional rights of citizens of  the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Zarif Alizoda - Ombudsmen of the Republic of Tajikistan.

During the meeting the sides discussed issues concerning the situation of human rights in both countries, and exchanged views on such issues as the abolition of the death penalty, gender, migration and the prevention of torture.

After the main meeting a visit to one of the prisons of Switzerland was organized for the Tajik delegation in order to show the conditions of detention.

The next meeting of the Human Rights Dialogue is scheduled for 2016 in Dushanbe.
