Meeting with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, Mr. Li Junhua

On 27 May 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, held a meeting with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, Mr. Li Junhua (UN DESA), on the sidelines of the Fourth Dushanbe High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018–2028.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and UN DESA, including joint efforts aimed at advancing the international water agenda, promoting sustainable development, and strengthening cooperation within the framework of the Dushanbe Water Process.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the outcomes of the 2023 UN Water Conference, preparations for the upcoming United Nations Water Conferences in 2026 and 2028, as well as further promotion of the Water Action Agenda.

At the conclusion of the meeting, in recognition of his significant contribution to strengthening cooperation with the Republic of Tajikistan and for his support of international initiatives in the fields of water and sustainable development, by order of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Li Junhua was awarded the “Medal for Distinguished Service”.
