Participation of the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the UN at an informal meeting of the UN Security Council Committee 1540

On 3 May 2019 at UN Headquarters, Ambassador Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations participated and addressed the informal meeting of the 1540 Committee of the UN Security Council on the presentation of the results of the Trilateral Peer Review Meetings between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus on the implementation of UNSC Resolution 1540.

This meeting is considered to be one of the first presentations in the 1540 Committee on the joint efforts of the member states of the region to implement the UN Security Council resolution 1540. The above presentation was supported by the members of the UN Security Council.

The Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations noted that the Trilateral Peer Review Meetings to a great extent facilitated the development of regional cooperation and formulated the joint responses to address the threat of proliferation of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons of mass destruction in the region.
