On 19 June 2019 the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Ambassador Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov participated and addressed the UN Security Council Debate on Afghanistan.
In his statement, the Permanent Representative highlighted key threats and challenges, in particular terrorism, extremism, transnational organized crime and illicit drug trafficking. In this regard, he emphasized the need for better-coordinated actions and strengthening of regional cooperation.
Ambassador Mahmadaminov also briefed the participants on the outcomes of the recent important events, convened by the Government of Tajikistan, in particular the High-Level Conference “International and Regional Cooperation on Countering Terrorism and its Financing Through Illicit Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime” (16-17 May 2019) and the 5th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
