Telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland

On July 2, 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, had a telephone conversation with the Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Ignacio Cassis.

During the meeting, the ministers exchanged views on COVID-19 and the current state of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Switzerland. In particular, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan noted the importance of the Government’s efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the country and the assistance of development partners, in particular the Swiss Government, in overcoming its consequences.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the joint fight against COVID-19 and emphasized the need to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres. Partnership and mutual support within the framework of international organizations and financial institutions were recognized as important.

At the same time, the parties considered the realization process of the agreements reached during the official visit of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to the Swiss Confederation (November 5-6, 2019).
