On December 24, 2020 under the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for the first time ever dedicated to the cooperation of the CIS Member States within the framework of UNESCO were held in the format of videoconference.
During the meeting, the parties discussed aspects of activities and promising areas of cooperation between the CIS Member States within the framework of UNESCO, as well as exchanged experience on the implementation of the SDG4 in the time of the pandemic. In addition, participants exchanged views on cooperation opportunities within the framework of the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage and implementation of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
The sides also agreed to intensify interaction in order to strengthen relations between the CIS National Commissions for UNESCO, and also considered the prospects for establishing cooperation between the CIS and UNESCO.
